Marketing and Promo Push (The A&R Project Pt. 2) - Ciara

So we talked about the music end, now let’s jump into making it stick out! I was thinking and thinking and I thought about Folklore and how cool it would be to intertwine that with Ciara’s new project. Mythical birds kept sticking out to me so I decided to do some reading on different ones. So, what if there’s this whole story about Ciara embodying these mythical birds and is now deciding to let them loose. Each bird is representative of a facet of Ciara’s being. Each bird represents certain themes and mood in the music that would be present on the new album. Maybe there’s multiple interludes that each tell the story behind a certain bird, but mix in a story with Ciara in that mythology.

Now, we can get super deep into the history of these birds and make it apart of the project, or we can go real surface. It depends on what Ciara and her team would want to do, because I can see it maybe alienating some fans or going over people’s heads, but I feel if done just right, it could make for a cool experience.

Birds are Majestic, Mysterious, Brave, Feminine, Free, Agile and so much more. Different attributes can be connected to Ciara in a way.  So all of this can be made into Ciara being free of constraints and soaring to new territory, hence Pt. 1 of this post.

These are a few of the birds that I would incorporate into the project, but not representative of all.

• The Phoenix – The Phoenix bird is maybe the most known to the general public. It is most known for it being immortal and able to engulf itself in flames and rebuild from the ashes and arise anew. It is said that the bird’s cry is a beautiful song.

• The Lightning Bird – This stems from South Africa. It is known to summon thunder and Lightning with its wings and talon, but also be very dangerous to others and is said to have vampiric tendencies.

• The Ice Bird – This bird in Greek Mythology represents love, commitment and tranquility.

So you can see from those short excerpts where you can take these themes and liken them to the songs and Ciara the person and artist. There are more birds that can be added into the equation, but this is just an example.

I thought it would be cool if in major cities to announce the project, really interesting looking feathers would be released and on them information about the project and where to go to find more information. But there are a certain amount of feathers that have a specific look, if found, grants the holder access to exclusive content and/or a meeting with Ciara. Just like in folklore with the firebird, when a feather was found, it led the holder on a journey to search for the actual bird.

More can be built upon this concept depending on how far everyone wanted to take it, but this is the initial framework of the idea.
